Thigh Lift Surgery In India

Make outer and inner thighs look firmer and shapelier with Thigh Lift Surgery performed at Designer Bodyz, Best Plastic Surgery Clinic In India.

The thighs are an integral part of the lower body but it often tends to hold on to excess skin folds after there is a drastic and/or sudden weight loss as well as fatty tissues regardless of dieting or daily exercising. Loose, drooping skin distribution in the thighs can also be because of natural factors like genetics or due to aging which causes upper leg skin to become flabby and loose. People who have sagging thigh skin or loose stubborn fats in and around the thigh area usually end up hiding their thighs under clothing as they start to feel embarrassed with their outward appearance. They feel uncomfortable in many garments like sportswear and swimwear. If individuals start disliking their body parts, it can be detrimental to mental health and may result in anxiety and depression.

The best thigh lift surgery in India is performed at Designer Bodyz by Dr. Parag Telang to get rid of surplus fatty tissues, tighten the drooping, loose skin, and usually uplift the hanging or stretched skin from the inner thigh region. Often, it is combined with a liposuction technique that aims to eliminate any undesirable fat in the thigh region for a more sculpted look. The overall effect of this surgery is an aesthetically pleasing shape of the thighs with a firmer-to-touch, and a taut, smooth overlying thigh skin.

Indications for A Thigh Lift

  • Significant excess skin is either internal, bilateral, or in the mid-thigh region.
  • Poor quality of the thigh skin after the bariatric surgery-induced weight loss.
  • Massive weight loss as a result of exercise or dieting.
  • Cellulite or loose skin in the thigh area post-pregnancy or aging.
  • Extreme skin laxity of the thigh region.
  • Sagginess of the thigh skin causes skin rashes or infections and restricts mobility.

Ideal Candidates for a Thigh Lift Surgery

Thigh lift surgery is usually recommended or fits best for people when weight control and fitness efforts have failed to provide thighs that are firmer with younger-looking skin, and more proportionate to the entire figure. Generally, suitable candidates for a thigh lift are:

  • Individuals who are next to their ideal or desired body weight and make constant efforts to maintain stable body weight.
  • Those who are in good physical health.
  • People who possess excess soft tissue with good skin elasticity along the inner, medial, or/ and outer thigh region. The back and front thigh portions are usually not lifted by surgery.
  • Healthy people without any medical conditions that delay healing or increase the risks of the surgery.
  • Individuals who are committed and dedicated to following a healthy lifestyle including a proper diet and fitness.
  • People who hold realistic expectations or goals and a positive outlook for what thigh lift surgery can bring about.
  • Individuals who are seeking the removal of cellulite and excess fat deposits in the thighs wish for long-lasting results.

Ideal Candidates for a Thigh Lift Surgery

Thigh Lift Surgery Pre-Requisites

Before commencing with a thigh lift surgery, the patients must undergo some lab tests and medical evaluation to confirm candidacy for the surgery. Patients are recommended/required to follow the instructions of the surgeon, including:

  • Cessation of smoking and alcohol consumption at least 6 weeks before getting admitted for surgery to avoid lengthening of the recovery process and any complications.
  • Discontinued intake of asp-irin or any other non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medications, blood-thinners, and herbal supplements (as they increase the risk of bleeding) at least a week before the procedure.
  • Fasting in the 6 hours before the surgery. However, small sips of clear fluids like water, black tea, black coffee are permissible for up to 2 hours before the surgery.
  • Arranging for a driver or a family member to accompany post-operation and follow-up appointments until the surgeon gives clearance for driving.

Thigh Lift Surgery Procedure

Giving anesthesia

The surgery is performed under general anesthesia or intravenous sedation to provide comfort throughout the surgery.

Measuring and marking the treatment site

The surgeon measures the thighs to assess how much skin and fat is required to be removed and marks the area accordingly. The thighs are photographed in various positions to compare with the final results.

Making incision

Two different incision patterns can be undertaken by the surgeon based on the factors like area being treated, surgeon and patient preference, the skin’s laxity, and the desired extent of correction. These include:

  • Inner (or medial) thigh lift - When rippling and laxity of the skin is found throughout the inner thigh area, a cut is made in the junction of the thigh and pubic region (i.e. in the groin extending downward and wrapping around the back portion of the thigh) to restore the skin’s elasticity by removing excess skin. However, if the rippling and laxity are limited to the upper thigh region, a mid-thigh lift can be done by making a cut in the groin area extending behind the buttock crease.

  • Lateral (outer) thigh lift - A cut is made in the outer thigh (upper leg) area extending from the groin around the hip and across the back to tighten the skin and improve contours of the outer thigh.

Skin excision and fat removal

Through the incision, the pre-surgical markings of the excess skin in the thighs along with associated fat are excised. The thigh skin is pulled upwards and sutured along the excised area. A targeted liposuction procedure is usually performed into the thigh area for a smooth final look. Before the closure of incisions, small drain tubes are placed beneath the skin to drain excess body fluids or blood.

Closing of the incisions

The incisions are closed often in multiple layers using deep sutures which are placed within underlying tissues to form and support the newly-shaped thigh contours. The skin incisions can be closed with absorbable sutures, clips, or skin adhesives. Lastly, a bandage is applied along the sutured area to minimize bleeding and swelling by applying some compression.

Post-Op Instructions / Post-Treatment Care

  • Avoid indulging in any physical activities or resume exercises (at least for 4-6 weeks). Extra care must be taken of the surgical sites by not subjecting them to excessive force or pressure, swelling, motion, or abrasion during the healing time.
  • Take painkillers to reduce any discomfort and antibiotics to prevent infections.
  • Keep dressings clean and dry.
  • On the third day following surgery, get the bandages and drainage tubes removed and wear the surgeon-recommended type of compression stockings.

Frequently Asked Question

What to expect following a thigh lift?

Patients normally experience slight bruising and swelling, temporary numbness, and little scarring at the incision sites. The discomfort subsides within a week or two. Once the healing is complete, patients can enjoy an improved skin quality of thighs both in terms of feel and look.

How long does it take to recover from a thigh lift?

A thigh lift surgery is associated with fairly minimal recovery time which varies among patients. A few weeks off from strenuous duties is usually advised. The results can be seen immediately, however it may take a few (3 to 6) months to fully recover and to show up final results.

Are there any scars left after a thigh lift?

Yes, it is likely that scars are left behind after surgery. The length and location of the scar depend upon the incision site and the extent of the skin being excised. As Dr. Parag Telang is an experienced cosmetic surgeon, he makes the incision strategically to hide these scars by making cuts in the natural folds and creases of the thigh. Over time, they heal and some over-the-counter treatments can further help to reduce the scar visibility. Although that’s rarely needed in the case of thigh lift as most scars remain hidden under clothing (undergarments).
